Anderlecht relinquished top spot in the Pro League last weekend after a 0-0 draw against Union St Gilloise in the Brussels derby. Club Brugge have now taken top spot, and after two draws in a row, Anderlecht need to get back on track. They play ahead of Club this weekend and can put some pressure on them with a win over Genk. Their opponents are without a head coach, having seen Wouter Vrancken depart this week following a breakdown in relationship between himself and the clubs hierarchy.

Anderlecht will have to try and overcome Genk without experienced defender Jan Vertonghen. The former Tottenham defender picked up an injury during the Brussels derby and will be out for at least the next two games. On loan Seville defender Frederico Gattoni will likely come in to partner with Zeno Debast. Last time out, Anderlecht lost to Genk 2-1 away from home.

However, since then, Genk have been poor. The side have lost three on the bounce, conceding 11 goals in the process. Club put seven past them without reply across two games, with Cercle Brugge then beating them 4-1 last weekend. With Vrancken gone, this could be the best time for Anderlecht to face Genk. They do still have something to play for however, with the gap between themselves and Cercle/Antwerp not big enough to relax and be sure of European football next season.
