Het Nieuwsblad is reporting that Anderlecht are looking into signing Jean Butez. The Antwerp goalkeeper is seen by the club as the replacement for Kasper Schmeichel, who departed for Celtic during the transfer window. At the moment, Colin Coosemans is set to start in goal. For Antwerp, they were always willing to let Butez leave this summer, but whether they are happy for him to join a Pro League rival remains to be seen. The 29-year-old is valued at €8m and still has a contract until 2026. Whether Anderlecht are willing to pay that much is unlikely, as are the chances of Antwerp getting that much from any side for the goalkeeper.

Butez has been the sides number one since joining from Mouscron for just €1m back in the summer of 2020. The 29-year-old was a key part in the sides first title win since 1957, keeping the most clean sheets during the 2022/2023 season. The former Lille goalkeeper has made 168 appearances for the Great Old, keeping an impressive 62 clean sheets int he process. Last season he suffered an injury which kept him out of the end of season battle for European football. Antwerp fell short, but did seem impressed with what they saw from stand-in goalkeeper Senne Lammens. They are happy to give the 22-year-old the starting job should Butez leave.
