Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Anderlecht are interested in signing Leander Dendoncker from Aston Villa. They join another of the versatile midfielders former clubs in Wolves in the race to sign the Belgian international. Spanish side Las Palmas are also said to be interested in the 29-year-old who spent the second half of last season on loan at Napoli. Anderlecht could certainly do with a player like Dendoncker, with his ability to play in midfield or in central defence, where the side lack depth.
Dendoncker began his career with Anderlecht, making his debut for the side back in 2013. He went on to make 177 appearances for the side, scoring 11 goals before joining Wolves for around €13.8m in the summer of 2019. This move came after a successful loan spell the prior season. In 2022 Aston Villa spent €15m to bring the player to Villa Park, but he has since struggled to become a regular and now does not feature in the plans of Unai Emery.
