An Atalanta midfielder could arrive at Manchester City in the summer but they should push to sign him now | OneFootball

Manchester City remain on the hunt for a midfielder in the January transfer window. It was one of the City’s biggest priorities before the current transfer window opened. So far City’s hunt for a midfielder continues. One player who could fill the hole in Manchester City’s midfield is Atalanta midfielder Ederson. Now a new report indicates that the Brazilian midfielder could potentially join City in the summer.

Ederson would immediately improve City’s midfield now and add what they are lacking. If they are eager to sign Ederson in the summer it’s a move they should pursue this month. Whether or not it is a deal that is possible this month remains to be seen. Especially when you consider how well Atalanta has performed this season and how important Ederson is to their play. Perhaps City would have to pay a sizable transfer fee to sign Ederson this month, but it is a move City should consider.

Paul Hirst has reported for the Times that there is a possibility that Atalanta midfielder Ederson could join Manchester City in the summer. Hirst’s report looks at how Manchester City could line up next season and he has included the Brazilian midfielder in Manchester City’s potential 25/26 lineup.

Fabrizio Romano has reported via X that Manchester City are still on the search for a midfielder. Furthermore, Romano adds that several options are currently being assessed.

As a player Ederson would add the energy and defensive workrate that Manchester City’s midfield currently lacks. He is also a dangerous player going forward so he’d add plenty to Pep Guardiola’s squad. Based on the role he plays for Atalanta there is also the potential for Ederson to form a formidable midfield partnership with Rodri if the Atalanta midfielder did join Manchester City either this month or in the summer. But based on City’s needs now they should pursue a move for the Brazilian midfielder this month. Ederson would immediately strengthen City’s engine room so there is merit to the idea of Manchester City pursuing a move for Atalanta’s midfield workhorse this month.

It remains to be seen if Ederson is attainable this month. That is the question that surrounds any potential Manchester City move for the midfielder. But if as Paul Hirst reports that Ederson could join the world champions in the summer it would make sense if the world champions could attempt to sign the Atalanta midfielder this month.
