Ruben Amorim says Alejandro Garnacho has made it clear that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer.

The winger has not been taken on the Reds’ pre-season tour, as he continues to seek a move away from Old Trafford having found himself out of favour under Amorim.

Chelsea are among the clubs keen on the Argentinian.

And discussing his future, Amorim said: “Garnacho is a really talented boy. But sometimes things don’t work out. You cannot explain specifically what it is. It’s clear he wants a different thing with different leadership.”

Since they returned for pre-season training, United have kept five players away from the main squad. Marcus Rashford has secured a move to Barcelona but the other four, Garnacho, Antony, Jason Sancho and Tyrell Malacia, remain United players for the time being.

“There are players that clearly showed that they don’t want to be here,” Amorim explained. “That is normal, they are not bad and I’m good, I’m not bad and they are good. It is not that situation.

“It’s a simple situation that they want a new challenge.

“If the market closes and they are Manchester United players, then we, as a club, have to treat them in the same conditions.”

Since arriving in November, Amorim has made numerous changes at the club.

“I feel that we are more organised nowadays. Everybody knows their places. This is my job, everyone knows that and that looks like a small thing but it’s a big thing.

“We’ve improved even the medical department, the nutrition, we are so much better. What we eat, the way we behave on tour, on the pitch, the rules. I think everything is important.

“I know they are not kids and I don’t treat the players like kids but I think these small rules can help a group to be stronger.

“I think all the managers that come here can change things and dictate things.

“I need to have top people around me to help me change the culture.

“I need all of the club to move in the right direction.

“I think it’s clearly the culture. If we have a different culture, with all the pedigree, the money and all these things, then we can return to our place.

“My idea is to stay for many years but we know that results will dictate that. I know that last season I used all my credit but I’m ready to start fresh.”
