América would be able to buy Diego Lainez at a knockdown price should they be able to convince the winger to return to his roots.
The 21-year-old came through the ranks at the Azulcrema before making the move to LaLiga side Real Betis on a €14m deal in 2019, but the Spanish club now only value him at €8m.
He struggled for game time with Los Verdiblancos this past season, and it is likely he will need to leave the Estadio Benito Villamarín in order to boost his chances of playing a major role for Mexico at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of the year.
It is understood that Lainez is determined to succeed in Europe, which suggests a permanent move back to his homeland is not in the offing.
However América are reportedly trying to engineer a six-month move ahead of the Apertura, which could work out well for all parties concerned.
Las Águilas have a lot of work to do in order to win the player over, though, with Diego’s older brother and current América winger Mauro Lainez recently ruling out any chance of the siblings playing together next term.
