According to Belgian correspondent Sacha Tavolieri, Lille midfielder Amadou Onana (20) has completed a medical at Premier League side Everton, and has already signed a 5-year contract at the club today – the player is waiting on a final ‘termination agreement’ document to come from Northern France so the deal can be officially announced either on Sunday or Monday. The player was seen at Goodison park watching Frank Lampard’s side take on Chelsea on Saturday evening.
The Premier League side struck a deal with Les Dogues over an initial €36m fee, with a potential €4m in add-ons, while the players himself also agreed terms with his new club.
The former Hamburg man was also the subject of interest from West Ham, who looked set to wrap up his signing before their offer was matched by Everton, with the latter team also winning over Onana himself.
The 20-year-old leaves the north of France after just one season, having initiallly joined from the German club on a 5-year deal for €8m, but had been told that Lille would not stand in his way if an offer matched their asking price. This season, he made 32 appearances in a disappointing title defence, while also playing in every one of their Champions League games, in a run that was eventually ended by Chelsea in the knockouts.
