Bayern Munich teenage sensation Alphonso Davies has revealed that, despite asking Lionel Messi for his jersey, the Barcelona legend refused following Bayern’s 8-2 quarter-final thrashing.
The Canada international has established himself as one of the best players in the world but wasn’t able to get his hands on an elusive shirt.
“Yeah, I asked for it, but I think he was a little upset,” Davies told BT Sport. “It’s OK, though. Next time, hopefully.”
Of course, Bayern and PSG go head-to-head on Sunday and Davies believes this year’s Champions League final will be a high-scoring affair.
“For me, it’s a dream come true. Playing in the Champions League and making it to the final. It’s everything you can ask for,” he said.
“Paris are a good team. For now, we celebrate a little bit but afterwards, we focus on the next game. It’s going to be a good game, there’s going to be goals in it.
“This is what you dream of as a footballer – playing against the best in Europe.
“It is a dream come true. Playing in the Champions League and getting to the final is everything you could ask for. Even though they [the older players in the squad] have won many, many titles before, they are still hungry to win this one.”
Both Bayern Munich and PSG will be going after the treble, which will be the first since Barcelona pulled off the feat in 2015.
