A key member of Xavi’s Barcelona squad is set to be reintroduced to the club’s starting XI on Wednesday night.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have today provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Barca, of course, will mark their return to action on the continent in 48 hours’ time.

A Champions League quarter-final first-leg showdown with Paris Saint-Germain lies in wait, at the Parc des Princes.

Having been afforded the weekend off owing to La Liga’s scheduling around the Copa del Rey, the focus in Xavi’s ranks has long been directed towards reaching peak physical condition.

And one player to have been forced into a recent spell on the sidelines now appears to have reached precisely that.

As per the aforementioned AS, Andreas Christensen is ‘almost certain’ to take his place in the Barcelona starting line-up to face PSG.

The Danish international was forced to sit out Barca’s last two outings, either side of the international break, through an Achilles issue.

Having ramped up his recovery last week, though, Christensen is set to be thrown back into the thick of the action, at the base of Xavi’s midfield in Paris.
