Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba has a release clause in his contract that is said to be worth €90m in 2025.

Lukeba only joined Leipzig last summer from Lyon for €30m but in classic Leipzig fashion, the Saxony club has installed not one but two release clauses in his contract.

The first clause is valid from 2025 and is said to be worth around €90m, any potential sale for such a fee would match the fee Leipzig received for Joško Gvardiol last summer from Manchester City. The second clause is then valid a year later (2026) when the price dramatically drops to €65-70m.

In his first season at Leipzig, Lukeba has slotted into the team and has played 37 times mainly partnering either Willi Orban or countryman Mohamed Simakan in defence.

The other Leipzig players with release clauses are Mohamed Simakan (€70m), Dani Olmo (€60m), Benjamin Seško (€50m), Amadou Haidara (€30m) all valid from this summer and Loïs Openda who has a release clause valid in 2025 worth €50m.
