Xavi Simons on Premier League Radar: Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs in Talks

Simons’ Representatives Open Dialogue with London Trio

RB Leipzig’s electric Dutch talent Xavi Simons could be on the move this summer, with CaughtOffside revealing that the 22-year-old’s representatives have “begun talks with Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal” over a potential transfer. Valued at around €60 million, Simons is reportedly keen on a switch to the Premier League, and London appears to be the likely destination if a deal is struck.

Initial discussions are already underway, with sources close to the agents industry confirming that all three London clubs are exploring the feasibility of a deal. “The player’s agents have begun talks with Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal,” one source confirmed, with a second source backing the claim.

Interest Beyond London – But Financial Constraints Loom Large

Simons’ profile, versatility, and numbers from last season (14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions) make him one of the most attractive attacking midfield options in Europe. Though Manchester United and Newcastle United are keeping tabs, they are yet to make formal moves. Barcelona were previously considered a serious option, but their well-documented financial challenges make a deal “unaffordable” at this stage.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester City had reportedly scouted Simons in the past, but turned their attentions elsewhere – signing Florian Wirtz and Rayan Cherki respectively.

Fit for Arsenal and Chelsea – Tactical and Squad Considerations

For Arsenal, Simons could be the injection of creative unpredictability that was occasionally lacking last season. Despite Martin Ødegaard’s influence and Gabriel Martinelli’s dynamism, there were moments when Mikel Arteta’s side appeared too methodical. Simons, who can operate centrally or on either flank, offers a more direct, goal-minded alternative.

At Chelsea, his arrival would fill the creative void left by Noni Madueke’s exit and Mykhailo Mudryk’s suspension. While they’ve already added Jamie Gittens, the departure of Joao Felix (if confirmed) would further justify a move for Simons, whose output dwarfs most of Chelsea’s current midfield options.

Concerns Over Professionalism Could Be a Factor

While Simons’ raw ability is undeniable, some whispers from within the scouting circles raise a red flag: “there are reservations among clubs about the 22-year-old’s attitude and professionalism.” Whether that’s a genuine concern or smoke in the transfer window is yet to be seen – but it could affect his price tag or the willingness of clubs to meet Leipzig’s valuation.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

From an Arsenal supporter’s perspective, there’s understandable excitement about Xavi Simons being linked with a move to North London. A player with double-digit goals and assists across competitions fits the mould of a Mikel Arteta system that thrives on high-intensity, fluid attackers. His versatility – being able to play as a No.10, left winger or even a second striker – means he’d add immediate depth and quality across multiple positions.

However, there’s room for caution too. The murmurs about his attitude might remind some fans of previous young talents who didn’t quite live up to expectation – and Arsenal’s recruitment strategy in recent years has prioritised not just ability, but mentality. That said, a calculated risk at €60m for a 22-year-old with that production level could prove a masterstroke – especially when compared to what’s available in the current market.

The fact that Chelsea and Spurs are also circling reinforces how highly rated Simons is, and Arsenal would do well to act swiftly if they truly want him. Given the player’s ambition to move to England, Arteta should at least push the discussion forward and explore the character concerns internally. If Simons buys into the project, he could be a transformative figure for the Gunners’ front line.
