Everton have signed Alisha Lehmann on loan from West Ham United for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

The 22-year-old becomes the Toffees’ second January signing alongside Lionesses legend Jill Scott ahead of the second half of the Women’s Super League season.

The Swiss international helped the Hammers reach the FA Cup final in 2019 and was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Season award that year.

This season she has played nine times in the WSL but has featured 11 times in all competitions, finding the back of the net once.

On signing for Everton Lehmann said: “It feels amazing to be here. Everton is a big club and they have done so well this season. I’m so excited to play, to score goals and win with Everton.

“For me, it was my first choice to come here and I am so happy it has happened. I’m really excited to meet everyone, to be with the squad.”

Lehmann brings her pace and ability on the ball to Merseyside as Everton look to climb the WSL table. The winger has 18 senior caps for Switzerland and has also represented Swiss side BSC YB Frauen at domestic level.

“I want to score goals and bring my strengths to the team,” she continued. “The manager also wants me to use my pace, to make runs – not just for me but also for my teammates.

“I hope Willie Kirk can bring me to the next level. I think I have potential and I can work on a lot of things.”

Lehmann went on to praise fellow Everton loanee Scott, who will represent the Toffees until the end of the season. She lauded the midfielder as a “really big player” as she expressed her excitement to start a new chapter.

Meanwhile, manager Kirk outlined the qualities he believes Lehmann will add to his side.

“I’m delighted to welcome Alisha to Everton,” he said. “She is a very exciting talent and she’ll add variation in our attack – she will bring directness, pace, purpose and intent to the team.

“She will create chances, score goals and gives us another very strong option in the forward positions.”

Lehmann could be set for her Everton debut this weekend when they host high-flyers Manchester United.
