Alexandre Lacazette made his debut for France in June 2013, not long after he turned 22.
A total of 52 minutes against Uruguay and Brazil introduced him to life as an international.
Although Deschamps handed Lacazette his debut, and then gave him minutes in a second match, he did not select him again for the next 16 matches, brining him back on the bench against Spain in 2014 before handing him half-an-hour against Serbia.
Laca was in just eight more squads after that (out of 33) before a brief return to the France set-up in 2017 around the time of his move to Arsenal.
He was then included in 9 squads, starting one and playing the full 90 in none of them.
After his two goals against Germany in that draw on 14 November 2017, he hasn’t been selected again.

Even when Karim Benzema was suspended from the side as he awaited trial, Lacazette could not get selected.
Lacazette recently spoke about the situation. “We don’t close the door [to France] but we think about it less and less after a while,” Lacazette told Telefoot, via Maxifoot.
“We work on our side for the club, for those who trust and believe in you.
“After, if there is an appeal and I am summoned, yes I will necessarily go because it’s always a pleasure to play for the France team, considered the French.
“But I don’t really have any illusions about it anymore.
“It’s a mystery [why I don’t get selected],” Lacazette said when asked if his last international appearance, in which France drew but Laca scored a brace, played a role. “Yes here, it did not match [make sense],” Lacazette replied.
“You can’t blame me for being a draw in the selection knowing that my last game was two goals.
“So yes, it didn’t match [make sense], that’s the right sentence.”
