Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is close to pledging his allegiance to the Nerazzurri following a series of back-and-forth negotiations.

That’s according to the player’s agent Tullio Tinti who confirms that talks between both parties are nearing a long-awaited conclusion.

“For Bastoni, we are now in the final stages,” Tinti told TuttoMercatoWeb. “In the next few days, we will find a way to do things right, but we are in the closing stages.”

Bastoni’s current deal will expire next summer, and Inter have been determined to tie the highly rated centre back to a new long-term contract amid concrete interest from clubs abroad.

Premier League duo Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have sounded out an interest in the Italy international. But the impending new deal is expected to end speculation about his long-term future.

Bastoni first arrived at Inter from Atalanta in 2017, but it took him two years to establish himself in the Nerazzurri first team.

He has since made 164 appearances for the 19-time Serie A winners, bagging three goals and 14 assists.

The 24-year-old was an integral part of Simone Inzaghi’s side that defied expectations to reach the Champions League final last season, where they lost out to Man City in Istanbul.

However, he did manage to win silverware with the Nerazzurri after beating Juventus to help Inzaghi’s side retain their Coppa Italia crown.

Inter consider Bastoni to be crucial to their long-term plans, and his renewal will come as a boost to the Serie A giants, who are poised to lose some of their top stars this summer.

Marcelo Brozovic is subject to interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, while Nicolo Barella has also been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana is also being courted by English giants Manchester United and Chelsea.

Inter have already rejected a bid from Chelsea with the Nerazzurri holding out for a fee of around £50 million.
