According to reports Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho looks likely to be called up to Argentina’s Copa America squad this summer.

The Argentine has really solidified himself as one of United’s top attacking options this season, as he has played 48 times for the Red Devils in all competitions.

The Peoples Person also relayed yesterday that according to Opta, he is the best ball carrier in the entire league.

This is a meteoric rise when you consider two years ago he was playing Youth Cup football.

The winger has scored nine goals and provided five assists in these matches.

However, the winger has looked tired as of late and this is down to the sheer volume of football he is being asked to play due to the poor form of other wingers such as Antony and Marcus Rashford.

The 19 year old was predominantly a bench option in his debut season and before the 1st of November, had never played more than two consecutive games. He has now made 36 consecutive starts for the Red Devils in this current campaign.

The player could also face a hugely complicated summer with both Copa America and the Olympic Games on the horizon for the Argentinian national team.

It was reported by Relevo that the player’s exploits may not be enough to secure a spot in the Copa America squad but this has been contradicted by sports journalist Gaston Edul who works for TyC Sports.

Edul (via All About Argentina) claims that “Alejandro Garnacho is with big chances to be called up by Lionel Scaloni for the Copa America.”

The teenager has already spoken at length of how proud he is to represent La Albiceleste and impressed for them in recent international friendlies in North America in March.

Therefore, the news will likely be met with much joy for Garnacho but United fans may worry that the player will be overworked and could suffer injury consequences next season.

The Red Devils have already seen the cost of devastating injuries this season, which many people see as connected to the huge amounts of games United were playing last year on top of a World Cup half way through the season.

United supporters will be hoping that the player is used sensibly in the summer and gets a break before coming back fresh to start the season with the Red Devils, as he is now an incredibly vital cog to the Mancunian machine.
