The name of right-back Gorosabel has of course long found itself front and centre in the headlines in Álava.

As much comes amid widespread speculation that the 27-year-old is inching towards a summer move to La Liga rivals Athletic Club.

Gorosabel, for his part, has enjoyed a fine season to date, featuring from the off in all but two of his side’s league outings.

Such efforts have long piqued the attentions of the aforementioned Athletic, though, with some outlets having gone as far as to point towards a summer joining of forces between the parties as being all but a sure thing.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s impending showdown with Ernesto Valverde’s troops on Saturday night, the aforementioned Luis García, in turn, was inevitably drawn on Gorosabel’s future with the club.

Alavés’ boss, however, was keen to play the subject down, adamant that, though he is unaware of the stopper’s plans beyond the summer, Gorosabel will continue to act as the consummate professional over the coming weeks and months.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with him. I don’t ask him or go where they don’t call me,” García began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “He is showing that he is a professional like the top of a pine tree, playing every game to the maximum, putting his physique on the line for Alavés. If he plays well or badly it will not be because of all this, it will be because he has a good or bad game.”
