Liverpool speedster Luis Diaz is one of the key targets Barcelona are pursuing heading into the summer transfer window.
The Colombian international is seen as the absolute priority to strengthen the left flank by sporting director Deco and manager Hansi Flick.
However, the 28-year-old winger is not short of suitors with clubs like Al Nassr from Saudi Arabia also in the mix.
Amidst all the transfer links and speculations, Luis Diaz has made an emotional post on his social media accounts – several days after Liverpool’s Premier League title celebrations – with a slight hint of a tone of farewell in his message.
“And so comes to an end another season at this incredible club. And what a season it was! The long-awaited league title has returned to Anfield,” wrote Diaz.
“The Premier League is ours, and it feels amazing to know that no one doubts we were the best and, because of that, truly deserved it. We were a real team, a strong group, a family – always backed by extraordinary supporters.”
Concluding, he wrote: “It’s hard to find fans anywhere in the world as dedicated and passionate as these. Anyone who plays for this badge is bound to miss this incredible atmosphere one day.
“My thanks go to everyone: teammates, coaching staff, club staff and supporters. It was an unforgettable season, one I will always carry in my heart!”
The final part of Diaz’s post reads a little like a goodbye although it could also be interpreted as a heartfelt reflection and expression of gratitude after an extraordinary season with Liverpool.
Barcelona, for their part, see Diaz as an absolute priority and believe that a move for him will cost around €65-70 million. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Liverpool winger.
