Life at Olympique de Marseille moves quickly and Chancel Mbemba (30) who was part of a core group last season that even had the French president praising his talents has soon found himself in the “loft” with the club desperate for the defender to leave.
The relationship between Mbemba and Marseille has completely broken down with the defender thought to be angry at the way he has been treated in recent months. In early August, Mbemba was suspended by the club for a confrontation with a member of the club’s management.
According to a report by Foot Mercato, Mbemba could be provided an exit route with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad interested in bringing in a centre-back to bolster their defensive options. Al-Ittihad are very interested in Mbemba’s profile and are thought to be prioritising a move for him.
Despite discussions already beginning, the French outlet reports that Al-Ittihad would need to sell a foreign player before they can recruit Mbemba into their team.
