According to reports, Ajax are considering a renewed approach for Arsenal assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg in the summer.

Stuivenberg previously opted to stay with the Gunners but could the lure of a head coaching role at Ajax change his mind?

Albert Stuivenberg, currently the right-hand man to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, could be a target for Ajax again next summer according to media reports.

Stuivenberg was previously considered by Ajax to replace John Heitinga after his departure, but opted to stay with Arsenal, citing “unfinished business.” However, things could change if Arsenal manage to win the Premier League title this season.

With Arsenal currently leading the league race against Liverpool and Manchester City, it’s unlikely Stuivenberg would entertain talks with Ajax right now. Media speculate that Ajax will wait until the end of the season before approaching him.

Stuivenberg has limited experience as a head coach, having reached the cup final with KRC Genk in 2017 during his one-year stint. Since 2019, he’s served as assistant coach at Arsenal, while also holding an assistant role with the Wales national team for his first two years with the Gunners.

It’s worth noting that Stuivenberg isn’t the only candidate on Ajax‘s radar. Names like Erik ten Hag, Dick Schreuder, and Pascal Jansen are also reportedly being considered to take over from John van ‘t Schip, who will transition to a different role at Ajax next season.
