Ajax are interested in bringing in 18-year-old Hoffenheim defender Melayro Bogarde, who recently made his first-team debut.

Bogarde is the nephew of former Netherlands international defender Winston Bogarde, who enjoyed a fine career at clubs like Ajax, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea.

The 49-year-old Bogarde is now the assistant manager at Jong Ajax, which could end up being a huge advantage in negotiations.

Melayro is a capped Netherlands U-18 international and started his career in the Feyenoord system before moving to Hoffenheim two summers ago.

His younger brother Lamare, 16, is currently a defensive midfielder in the Feyenoord system and is also a Netherlands youth international. He’s currently linked to a move to Aston Villa.
