Ajax got back to work in the Eredivisie on Sunday and walked away with all three points against Sparta Rotterdam after a 1-0 win away from home.

Right from kick-off Ajax maintained control of the match hoping to break the deadlock early on.

However, Sparta – who are currently in the relegation zone – did enough to frustrate the visitors who were playing with a full-strength squad.

The only goal of the game came just before the break when captain Dušan Tadić finished off some creative play by the visitors.

Coming out into the second half the visitors looked to add more to their tally doing all the work in the middle of the park yet failed to find the net again.

In the end, 1-0 is enough to see Ajax hold a three-point lead at the top of the table.

However, PSV Eindhoven can get back on level terms with a win against Heerenveen later Sunday evening.
