Ajax have denied claims that they are set to appoint Julian Ward as their new director of football.
Reports in England suggested that Ward will move to the Johan Cruijff ArenA this summer when he leave his role as Liverpool’s sporting director after just 12 months.
But the supervisory board chairman Pier Eringa insists that the identity of Marc Overmars’ long-awaited successor remains undecided along with several other key positions in the Amsterdam club’s hierarchy.
“I don’t know anything about that,” Eringa told Dutch TV programme Op1.
“This is a job for the management. You look at whether the organisation is in good shape.
“The fact that it is not yet known who will be the new trainer, technical director and football commissioner is vulnerable, because your football axes are not yet in order.”
Ajax installed John Heitinga as interim head coach until the end of the season in January following Alfred Schreuder’s sacking.
The reigning Eredivisie champions currently trail Feyenoord by six points in the title race after losing to to their arch-rivals last weekend.
