Ajax complete signing of Championship top goalscorer | OneFootball

Ajax have completed the signing of striker Chuba Akpom from Middlesbrough.

The Eredivisie side are reported to have paid €12.3m for the 27-year-old, who was the top goalscorer in the Championship last season.

Akpom bagged 27 goals as Michael Carrick’s side made a tilt towards the playoffs before eventually losing in the semi-finals to Coventry.

Ajax have been in the market for attacking reinforcements following the departure of captain Dušan Tadić.

Akpom has signed a contract that will keep him in Amsterdam until 2028 with the transfer fee potentially increasing to €14m depending on add-ons.

The centre forward originally came through the ranks at Arsenal, embarking on a number of loan spells before eventually making a permanent move to Greek side PAOK in 2018.

His move to Middlesbrough came two years later with Akpom managing his best goalscoring campaign of his career last time out.
