Santi Aouna is reporting that AC Ajaccio are confident of signing Youcef Belaïli (30) as a free agent, following the termination of his contract at Brest.
The Corsican club’s interest in the Algerian international was first revealed by L’Équipe, and according to Aouna, they are confident of getting a deal over the line. Should he arrive, he would do so as a “joker” transfer as he is now a free agent.
He recently left Brest after less than a year at the club. According to the club’s sporting director Grégory Lorenzi, Belaïli left due to being unhappy with life at the Breton club. However, he could now be set to return to the game at Ligue 1 rivals Ajaccio.
Internally, the club are confident of completing the deal, although Aouna reports that another Ligue 1 club are interested. Ajaccio are currently 16th in Ligue 1, after gaining promotion to France’s top flight last season.
