Next summer’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament has been postponed until January 2024.
Senegal won the last edition of AFCON, which was hosted in January 2022, having been delayed twice in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.
The next edition of the tournament had been announced for June 2023 due to the World Cup’s impact on the calendar, and was due to be held in the Ivory Coast.
Yet a CAF executive committee ruled today that AFCON would be pushed back by six months, due to traditional heavy rains in the country during the summer months.
