Speaking to the media, Desiree Ellis, coach of the Banyana Banyana, addressed reporters just hours after her team arrived in Morocco for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
South Africa has landed in Morocco to defend their African champions' crown at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. At the helm of the South African squad, Desiree Ellis has already set the tone ahead of their opener against Ghana on July 7.
After a long and eventful journey, Desiree Ellis expressed her satisfaction at seeing her squad settled into their training base. "It was a long and tiring trip with a delayed flight, but we finally boarded, stayed over in Accra, and have now arrived here. The tournament is coming up, and we need to be ready," she told the Safa website.
With almost the full squad present, the Banyana Banyana hit the ground running with their first training session as soon as they arrived. "We are well settled, very warmly welcomed, and today we're having our first training session. It's a new country, but it's still Morocco—we've arrived. I find it very exciting to be here and to finally get started," the coach added.
