#AdranLeagues: Aberystwyth Town qualify for Championship | OneFootball

Aberystwyth Town won their final Genero Adran Premier game of 2021 to seal a spot in the  Championship Division following the post Christmas split.

Adran Premier

Barry Town United 3-0 Pontypridd Town Cardiff City FC 1-4 Cardiff Met Port Talbot Town 1-2 Aberystwyth Town Swansea City 3-1 The New Saints

Aberystwyth had been in the top four before the weekend but came from behind at Port Talbot to ensure they stayed there. Harlann-Freja Davies opened the scoring but Rebecca Mathias levelled by the break and Flavia Jenkins netted the winner from a 73rd-minute penalty.

Pontypridd Town had in any case not managed to pick up the necessary three points to potentially overtake Aber, as they went down 3-0 at Barry, whose goals came from Taite Trivett, Caitlin Marron and Grace O’Reilly.

Swansea City were ahead inside the first minute through Stacey John-Davis and although Lucie Platt replied for The New Saints, Katy Hosford and Laura Davies secured a win for the Swans by half-time.

Cardiff Met won the capital clash at Cardiff City FC 4-1, Laura May Walkley’s brace bringing a response from a  Phoebie Poole penalty, before Sophie Hancocks restored the two-goal cushion and Steph Turner added a fourth deep into stoppage-time. The pair meet again in midweek with the Archers this time at home.

Despite two midweek games to come, Aberystwyth, Cardiff City FC, Cardiff Met and Swansea City will make up the Championship Division when the league returns on 13 February, while Barry, Pontypridd Town, Port Talbot and TNS play for the Plate.

Adran North

Airbus UK Broughton 3-1 Denbigh Town Llanfair United 3-0 Pwllheli Wrexham 5-3 Llandudno

Wrexham came from 3-1 down at the break to beat Llandudno 5-3, eventually regaining the lead in the 90th minute as they went level on points with leaders Connah’s Quay Nomads, whose big game with Bethel was postponed.  Denbigh had previously suffered a run of heavy defeats but limited Airbus to a 3-1 scoreline as Tegan Hewitt scored all three. Llanfair’s Tonicha Lloyd, Mary Bailey and Dotty Evans struck against Pwllheli for their first points of the season.

Adran South

Abergavenny 8-0 Caldicot Town Briton Ferry Llansawel 6-0 Merthyr Town Cardiff Bluebelles 1-0 Swansea University Cascade 5-3 Talycopa

Abergavenny remained top after putting eight goals past Caldicot Town, Mali Summers claiming a hat-trick. Second-placed Briton Ferry hit Merthyr for six with Mollie Jones twice on target. Anny Lewis netted three times as Cascade came out on top 5-3 against Talycopa, Hannah Moger got the only goal as Cardiff Bluebelles beat Swansea University.
