Norwich City will hope they can keep hold of that last remaining play-off spot between now and the end of the season.

It looked like it was going to be another disappointing campaign for the Canaries after a poor run of form earlier in the season saw them slide down the table and pressure mounted on David Wagner.

But the club kept with Wagner, and they now seem to be benefiting from that decision as they look to make it into this season’s play-offs. Norwich have currently got six games remaining in the league to cement that top-six spot, but they face competition from teams like Coventry City, Preston, and Hull.

One player who isn’t part of what Norwich can achieve this season is forward Adam Idah, as the club decided to loan him out to Scottish champions Celtic in the January transfer window.

The forward has taken to life well in Scotland, and that has caused his future to be a topic of debate, so here we decided to look at the latest news involving the player…

Celtic will have to wait for Norwich City’s stance on Adam Idah

Not many Norwich City fans would have expected Adam Idah to have been the success that he has been while on loan at Celtic.

The forward showed glimpses for the Canaries but was never a prolific scorer and was consistently in and out of the starting XI.

However, he has joined the Hoops and looks to be enjoying his football once again, and Celtic look to be enjoying having the forward in their team.

It is unclear what both clubs plan to do with the player, but it has now been revealed by Football Scotland, that Celtic will have to wait until the summer to discover Norwich’s stance on Idah.

The deal that saw Idah join the Scottish side in January was a straight loan fee with no future fee agreed, so a transfer agreement will have to be reached for this deal to become permanent.

But Norwich are waiting until the end of the season to see how the loan develops and how Sydney van Hooijdonk performs, as the club signed him on loan from Bologna, and they are waiting for him to prove his worth.

The report finally adds that Norwich are also seeing what division they will be in next season, as that could also have a factor in what happens with Idah.

Former Republic of Ireland boss tells Idah to grasp Celtic chance

Former Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has told Adam Idah to grasp the opportunity of playing for Celtic and working under manager Brendan Rodgers.

The 23-year-old has currently played in eight league games this season, during which time he has scored five goals and chipped in with two assists.

Now his former international manager has told him to use the opportunity at Celtic as a chance to take his game to the next level, and it could be hugely beneficial working under a manager like Rodgers.

Kenny told Celtic Way, via Football Scotland: “I think it is a fantastic opportunity for him.

“It is one that he has grasped straight away and, from the outside looking in, I am sure he is enjoying his spell in Glasgow.

“Adam has pace. He is very quick. He has a real physical presence and technically he is very good. He can press aggressively and he can run the channels. He can be a focal point of any team's attack. He possesses all the right attributes that you need in a modern-day striker.

"I think Brendan Rodgers is an ideal coach for a player like Adam at this time as he is still learning the game. Brendan will help Adam do that and contribute massively to his development. I'm sure Brendan will be working on improving Adam, especially with his movement in the box.

"He has a very good start and scored some good goals and important ones for Celtic already. The bar is set extremely high as a centre-forward for Celtic. Adam has gone in and shown that he can score goals at that level.

"He can only enhance the Celtic forward line and contribute positively in terms of his goals. He has shown that he can lead the Celtic attack and play with or without Kyogo Furuhashi in the team. I just think Adam will benefit greatly from this move and being in the Glasgow environment will be great for his development and progression.

"First and foremost for Adam, he just has to focus on playing regular first-team football for Celtic and constantly strive to improve under Brendan. He has made a big contribution already and, hopefully, he can continue to do that until the end of the season. I am sure Brendan and the Celtic coaching staff are working tirelessly with him.”

Obviously, a lot of the talk now is about Celtic possibly looking into making Adam Idah’s loan switch into a permanent deal.

But it also must be remembered that Idah still has plenty of time to run on his contract at Carrow Road.

The forward has a contract with the Canaries that runs until the summer of 2028, meaning there is no rush for the Championship club to make a decision on his future.

The 23-year-old has been at Carrow Road since 2017, and while it took him a bit to get into the first team, he has since done that and shown that he is more than capable of being their frontman.

The forward had scored six goals in 28 league games before departing on loan in January, making his switch to Celtic a little bizarre.

So, there is nothing to say that Norwich may just look to bring Idah back to the club after this loan, and he could be their centre-forward going forward. Given his contract situation, Celtic may have to offer something tempting to get Norwich to consider selling the striker this summer.
