Leeds United Women bolstered their midfield options with a sixth signing of the summer, welcoming Abigail Lee back to the club.
The former Whites player returns to where she began her career, having then enjoyed stints away at Bradford City, Huddersfield Town and Brighouse Town.
Since impressing whilst on trial in pre-season, Lee can’t wait to get back out there to play competitive football, starting with this afternoon’s clash with Cheadle Town.
“It feels really good, to be fair,” se explained. “I think I have sort of gone full circle, obviously starting playing at Leeds when I was sort of six, seven, and then it just feels like I am now back where I sort of belong, in a sense, which is really nice.
“Obviously, I have got a massive attachment to Leeds in terms of work with the Leeds United Foundation, and it is the club I support, so, yeah, it feels really great.
“It felt right once I had spoken to Simon and you can see clearly what the ambition of the club is. They are a really, really nice group of girls and some of my friends play here, which is really nice, so there are a lot of familiar faces. It is the club that I love in a sense so it was a no-brainer.
“Pre-season and training has been really good. It has been great to get to know everybody and sort of get settled in.
“I think particularly with the new signings and already the girls that have been at the club, it is looking a really strong squad.
“I think it is nice to be in that environment and definitely getting challenged and playing with a good bunch of players. I am really positive about the group and positive about the season.
“When you just look at the club, the backing that the club has from the fans and being a one-city club, it is brilliant. I have got that attachment to Leeds so it is even more special.”
