Kilmarnock always a difficult trip

Kilmarnock are our opponents as we travel to Ayrshire to take on Derek McInnes side before we stop for yet another dreadful international break.

It’s vital we get all three points after Aberdeen roared back from their thrashing at Hampden in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final, with a 4-1 win over Dundee at Pittodrie in front of a crowd of just under 20,000 supporters. This evening Aberdeen sit three points clear at the top of the table and the onus is now on Celtic to respond at Rugby Park.

It might be tempting to rest a few players after the effort we put in on Tuesday night, but Killie will provide stiff opposition, and we will need our strongest side available if we are to take all three points and return to the top of the table.

Celtic can struggle when we leave out our best performers

We’ve seen on a few occasions how we struggle when we leave out our best performers, and tomorrow isn’t the time for that. We must field our strongest side, maybe even the side that started against Leipzig if we want to win all three points.

We must be ruthless and go all out to make sure we go into break as league leaders.

Aberdeen mean business

The 6-0 win last weekend in the cup certainly hasn’t affected Aberdeen and Celtic mustn’t be complacent about a challenge from the North East because Jimmy Thelin’s team retains the momentum as far as the Scottish Premiership is concerned.

The strongest possible Celtic team is needed tomorrow and a performance along similar lines to our last visit to Rugby Park is called for. Nothing less will get us the three points that are absolutely necessary.

Get the job done Bhoys.
