Teenage defender highly-rated by Blues chiefs are youth recruitment drive continues
Boca Juniors starlet Aaron Anselmino is due in London for a medical ahead of completing a £17million transfer to Chelsea.
Chelsea have agreed a long-term contract with 19-year-old defender Anselmino, and also struck a deal with his Buenos Aires club.
The highly-rated defender will complete his Chelsea transfer in the coming days, then return to Boca on loan, likely for the full season ahead.
Chelsea’s new chiefs view Anselmino as another young talent rich enough in potential to be a potential Blues stalwart and want to nurture his progress carefully.
Anselmino is now due to become the latest in a string of talented young South American imports at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea signed young Brazilian forward Estevao Willian from Palmeiras for an initial £29.5million fee this summer, with feted Brazil striker Neymar tipping the teenager for a standout career.
The 17-year-old is considered capable of becoming one of the top Brazilian talents of the next generation, and the Blues regard his capture as a major coup.
Estevao will not make the Stamford Bridge switch until after his 18th birthday, underscoring Chelsea’s long-term investment and strategy around future stars.
The Blues have also made significant investments on further South American talents in the shape of Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington and Angelo Gabriel.
