“A win for all of us”

Head coach Dino Toppmöller, Robin Koch and Aurélio Buta give their thoughts on the last-second win and emphasise the role of the fans.

Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “We gave it our all once again, especially in the second half. You saw in the first half that we didn’t have the energy we would’ve liked. That’s understandable because we’re physically at our limit. I’m incredibly proud of the group’s character. Those are emotions that no money in the world can buy. The crowd were an important factor. It wasn’t our best performance, but they always stayed positive and spurred us on. That’s extremely powerful and it’s a win for all of us.”

Robin Koch: “Crazy! I don’t think there’s a better stadium in which to score a winning goal in the last second. It was a perfect ending for everyone. We all had the desire to still turn the game around, even though the legs were tiring towards the end. This finish is extremely important for us as we desperately wanted to go into the break on the back of a win.”

Aurélio Buta: “The stoppage time was crazy. We were determined to score and then we go and get two goals. It’s fantastic, I’m very proud of the team. The cross from Niels for my goal was perfect, I positioned myself by the far post. It’s been a year of ups and downs but at the end we can all be proud.”
