The 18-year-old striker is moving to Eintracht Frankfurt from 1. FC Nürnberg ahead of the new season, signing a contract which runs until 30 June 2029.

Can Uzun was born in Regensburg in 2005 and played his childhood football at SSV Jahn and FC Ingolstadt, before moving to Nürnberg at the age of 15. Playing at U17 and U19 level for 1. FCN, he scored a total of 47 goals in 43 matches, 15 in the 2022/23 season, making him the U19 Bundesliga South/South-West top scorer for the season. Shortly after that, he made his debut with the first team in Bundesliga 2 at the age of just 17.

In the season just finished, Uzun established himself in the Nürnberg first team, grabbing headlines with his 19 goals and four assists in 32 competitive appearances (16 goals and two assists in the league), putting him among the top scorers in Bundesliga 2 at the age of 18.

Uzun has both German and Turkish nationality and has already represented the latter at U17 and U18 level, scoring seven goals in 14 games. Last September, he got the call-up for the Turkish U21 team at the age of 17, and in late March 2024, coach Vincenzo Montella gave him his full international debut.

“Can Uzun is one of the biggest talents in Germany,” said board member for sport Markus Krösche. “We’re therefore delighted that he has chosen us ahead of several interesting offers that he received from all around Europe. He has incredible skills for his age. We’ve outlined our precise plans to Can and he’s bought into them. We’re hoping to develop him the best way possible and are looking forward to him getting on the goal trail for us from next season onwards.”

“Eintracht Frankfurt is the perfect place for me to continue my development,” said Uzun. “I’m really looking forward to this new challenge and can’t wait to present myself to the Eintracht fans.”
