Major League Soccer officials have looked out for player safety and team's scheduling conflicts over the course of the 30 regular seasons. Weather has been one of the big ones this year.
A rare Friday night game for MLS between the LA Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo was originally scheduled for July 25, 2025. Due to the severe nature of the weather and the well-being of the players being taken seriously, the game was postponed.
Now, the match between the Los Angeles Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo will be played after Labor Day weekend on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. (PT). The game will still be on the road for the Galaxy.
With the playoffs out of reach for the LA Galaxy, this game has no direct bearing on their season. The same goes another recently rescheduled game on their slate.
While the first game change for the six-time MLS Cup winners occured because of player safety and mother nature getting in the way, officials stepped in for a different reason this time.
As a result of the LA Galaxy beating Pachuca, 2-1, on Wednesday, they play the Seattle Sounders this coming Wednesday in the semifinals of the 2025 Leagues Cup. The winners will play for first place and the loser plays for third, as both take place on Saturday, August 30th.
Thus, the LA Galaxy would have had two games scheduled on the same day. MLS adjusted the dates and times to accommodate the Leagues Cup match.
Now, the game is for Saturday, October 11, 2025. That now gives the LA Galaxy back-to-home games against FC Dallas. The first game was already in place for Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Now, the rescheduled game is for seven days later, still in Carson, California.

The Los Angeles Galaxy can play spoiler as FC Dallas enters this weekend just three points in the MLS Western Conference standings behind ninth-place San Jose. The Earthquakes are a surprise team this year, just like another California soccer team, San Diego FC.
The LA Galaxy failed to beat either the Earthquakes or San Diego, adding to their dismal 3-7-16 record as of Friday. They will host the Colorado Rapids this Saturday who are also trying to secure a playoff position in the MLS Western Conference.
