A night of Schadenfreude for Celtic supporters watching Sky Sports | OneFootball

Last night was a welcome bonus to Celtic’s title hopes this year and the way theRangers have imploded the past two fixtures has been magnificent to see. The declaration of “can you see us now” and “we’re coming for you” has been heard ad nauseam throughout the Scottish footballing universe since our pre-Christmas stumbles to Hearts and Kilmarnock respectively.

Supporters of the newest Ibrox outfit and their allies in the mainstream media have had Brendan Rodgers and this Celtic team written off for quite some time now. Admittedly, it hasn’t been a season of resplendent football from us, a far cry from it actually, but the fact that at times we couldn’t possibly play any worse and they have been playing to their absolute maximum – with the aid of several officials in this country remember – and we are now three points ahead again with a decent goal difference advantage, shows the gulf between the two sides.

Celtic are now looking as if they are in pole position to win this Scottish Premiership title and become Three-in-a-row Champions under Brendan Rodgers, after he replaced  Ange Postecoglou in June of last year. Five games remain and we must put our foot to the floor, using all our individual and collective strength to get the job done without any hiccups like theRangers suffered at Dens Park last night.

One of the most warming scenarios from that result last night was the sombre and despondent nature of Sky Sports Scotland’s resident blue-nose pundit, Kris Boyd. The wannabe shock-jock never makes any attempt to hide his blatant bias towards the Ibrox side and it shows in the way he conducts himself, even on live telly. Most of the time, he spouts absolute drivel, but even he was on point in the aftermath of his favourite team’s performance against Dundee.

When the game ceased to be, he declared: “At this moment in time, (the)Rangers have got 99 problems but the pitch ain’t one.” A clear and concise message to the unabated garbage which has emanated from theRangers manager and his club the past few weeks.

The pressure has been cranked up a notch and they seem to be buckling under that sweltering heat of a title race. It’s just as well Celtic have the bottle for it, having already won a close contest a few years back under Postecoglou in his first campaign at the club.

Although according to the media, it’s the first “real” title race in years…

Schadenfreude, I believe the phrase is…
