‘A magnificent player’ – Club legend backs Vitor Roque to prove Barcelona wrong | OneFootball

A former member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has backed Vitor Roque to prove the decision-makers at the club wrong this coming season.

Frontman Roque is for his part of course all set to depart Catalunya’s capital ahead of the upcoming transfer deadline.

A move to Real Betis lies in store for the Brazilian international, where he will spend the 2024/25 campaign on loan, with an option to buy.

Roque’s impending departure comes after the decision-makers at Barcelona came to the conclusion that the 19-year-old does, just half a season on from his arrival, does not possess the required qualities to contribute to a winning project.

Of an altogether different opinion, though, is one of Roque’s fellow countrymen.

Speaking on Thursday, Rivaldo, who dazzled across his own five-year stint in Blaugrana colours, backed ‘magnificent’ Roque to light up La Liga with Real Betis:

“Vitor Roque is going to a great club,” Rivaldo began, as cited by Diario Sport.

“Betis is a great team to play for. I think it will be easier for him to compete in a league like the Spanish one, where he will show that he is a magnificent player. Being in the same competition as Barça will help him. He will show that the team was too quick to accept his departure and let him go this season. He has everything to make his time at Betis a success, with minutes and the support of a great fan base.”
