One player whose future at Manchester City has appeared uncertain for some time now is Ederson. Manchester City’s number-one keeper has attracted interest from Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. Esteemed Kompany sources revealed in May that Al-Ittihad were pushing hard to tempt the Brazilian to move to the Gulf state. Now, a new report from CityXtra Português on X indicates that a decision on Ederson’s future will be made after the Club World Cup.

Ederson will reportedly make a decision on his future after the FIFA Club World Cup.

CityXtra Português reports that Ederson and Manchester City will decide Ederson’s future after the Club World Cup. CityXtra Português reports that Ederson wants to remain at Manchester City for next season. But if the right offer comes along, Ederson would be open to leaving City this summer, as per the CityXtra Português report. Furthermore, CityXtra Português reports that Pep Guardiola and Ederson had a conversation a few months ago. Manchester City’s number-one keeper expressed his willingness to leave City this summer if the right opportunity arose.

Manchester City do have a contingency plan in place if Ederson leaves.

At the beginning of June, Pep Guardiola shared his belief that Ederson and Stefan Ortega would remain at Manchester City for next season. That scenario does remain in play as per the CityXtra Português report. But it would appear that City have a contingency plan in place if Ederson does decide to leave the club. Whether it is this summer or next summer.

CityXtra Português adds that FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa is Manchester City’s choice to replace Ederson. The CityXtra Português report indicates that the Portuguese international is willing to wait until the end of the 25/26 season to move to the Etihad. He would also appear to be Manchester City’s number-one target to replace Ederson if he does decide to leave City later this summer.

Diogo Costa is a proven commodity as a goalkeeper. He has been Portugal’s number-one keeper for some time now. He also played at a high level for FC Porto during his career. He would fit the bill as a quality replacement for Ederson. Manchester City’s move for Diogo Costa is dependent on Ederson’s decision.
