‘A big step’ – Jurgen Klopp delivers promising injury update on key Reds star | OneFootball

Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as the England international continues to work back to fitness after picking up an injury late last year.

Indeed, within a matter of weeks our first-choice centre-half pairing of Gomez and Virgil van Dijk was effectively ruled out for the rest of the campaign and, among other issues, that is part of the reason why this season has not exactly gone to plan.

Evidently, the Reds have missed the likes of Gomez but Jurgen Klopp has delivered this promising update on the former Charlton Athletic defender:

Gomez is a top-class centre-half but he’s had his fair share of injury problems in recent years and the hope will just be that when he returns he is fit and ready and avoids further setbacks.

We know the quality he has got when he is in the side and we’ve missed his partnership with Virgil van Dijk this season but he could have other competition next year for a starting spot and that will hopefully spur him on to new levels of performance for the Reds.
