Italy are on the brink of a World Cup exit but Leonardo Bonucci will do anything to prevent that from happening.
Anything.
The defender played 88 minutes of Friday’s first leg defeat to Sweden with a broken nose after an early clash with Ola Toivonen.
That didn’t stop him from playing the rest of the game and it won’t stop him from playing the second leg on Monday.
It is 59 years since Italy last missed a World Cup – they have qualified for every tournament since 1958…when it was hosted in Sweden.
Bonucci looked in pretty good spirits when the team landed in Milan and will battle on with a face mask in the second leg, even though he may be forced to sit out Sunday’s training session.
