FLW take a look at some free agents Burnley can target this summer.
Burnley are embroiled in a four-way promotion race with Sheffield United, Leeds United and Sunderland.
All four teams have been superb to this point and have their own characteristics that make them strong contenders for promotion. For the Clarets, that is their superb defence and after 31 games they have remarkably conceded just nine goals in total.
This has seen them sacrifice some of their attacking nous and they have tried to address that in January by signing players like Marcus Edwards and Jaydon Banel.
Whether this will be enough remains unclear, but the next chance they will have to make additions to their squad is the summer window. By then, a whole host of players will have seen their contracts expire and it gives clubs the opportunity to sign individuals on a free transfer.
With this in mind, Football League World have outlined five bargain transfers Burnley could benefit from in the next window.
Burnley's attractiveness will largely depend on what division they are in, but if they secure an immediate return to the Premier League, they would be well-backed to offer Tariq Lamptey a contract.
The Cobham graduate has been at Brighton since 2020 and his contract runs out with the Seagulls this summer. Leicester City made a cut-price offer for him in the previous window, but the Ghanian didn't move on because of an injury crisis at the AMEX Stadium.
This shouldn't stop him in the summer and, despite adding Oliver Sonne to their right-back options in January, Burnley should still push for his signature with Connor Roberts' contract expiring in the summer.
Lamptey offers plenty going forward and, while he still has room to improve defensively, his versatility would be a real asset for Parker, especially with his ability to play a wing-back role should the head coach opt for a change in formation.
Second on this list, we have Ben Davies, who offers a potential option to Parker on the opposite side of defence to Lamptey.
A supremely experienced defender, Davies has made over 225 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and his current contract runs out in June, though they do have an option to extend it by an additional year should they choose to exercise it.
Aged 31, he would follow the recent trend at Turf Moor, which has seen them sign experienced players like Jonjo Shelvey and Ashley Barnes.
They will likely face competition from Leeds United, who were interested in securing his signature in January.
Burnley have been crying out for a striker all season and will likely require a new one in the summer. This should see them reunite with Danny Ings, who is out of contract at West Ham United.
The striker scored 42 goals for the Clarets in 130 appearances during the early 2010s and previously netted 22 goals in a single Premier League season for Southampton.
Regardless of their current division, they would likely receive strong backing to re-sign their former star, who, given the right opportunities, is expected to find the back of the net consistently.
Ilias Chair is a player who will undoubtedly be linked with a host of Championship and Premier League clubs, and Burnley should look to offer him a contract at Turf Moor.
The Queens Park Rangers star has been back to his best in recent weeks and has been a constant creative threat ever since emerging at Loftus Road.
The 27-year-old's current deal expires in June, but the club do have an option to extend it should they choose to.
Of course, this ultimately depends on the player's intentions, and if Chair wishes to move elsewhere, QPR may choose to let him go. With his contract set to expire, the Moroccan would have full control over his future, and Burnley should make a move for him, regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or the Championship.
A rogue shout but one that certainly could happen given Burnley's predominance to look abroad is Dejan Ljubicic from 1. FC Köln.
This summer sees Josh Brownhill's contract expire at the Clarets and if he does depart then they should look no further than Ljubicic to replace him.
The 27-year-old has been at the German club since 2021 and can provide both defensively and offensively. Featuring in the Bundesliga 2 this term, he has managed four goals and three assists in 16 appearances and ranks highly for key statistics such as recoveries and possession wins in the final third.
Ljubicic reportedly does not want to sign a new contract with the Billy Goats and this will leave him free to sign a contract with whoever provides one.
Burnley should be open to this and he would appear well-suited to Parker's system.
