Real Madrid lose the opening Clásico of the season. Our team were unable to take anything against Barcelona on their visit to the Estadio Olímpico Lluís Companys on matchday nine in the League. The madridistas now turn their attentions to their next clash, a meeting with Swedish side Häcken on matchday two of the Women’s Champions League Group Stage (Thursday, 6:45pm CET).

The madridistas began the game with a high-intensity approach, doing their best to penetrate the hosts' defence by using the wide areas well. Despite a strong start, Barcelona went ahead with 18 minutes gone when Aitana whipped the ball into the corner from the edge of the box. The home side were enjoying several chances and with five minutes left of the first half, Graham Hansen came close to doubling their lead but her effort came back off the crossbar. On 43’, the Norwegian made no mistake, pouncing on another rebound off the bar to make it two, before Mariona made it 3-0 before the break when she turned home a loose ball from inside the box following a corner.
