On 12 December, 1990, Real Madrid lifted their third Spanish Super Cup. The Whites were up against Barcelona and moved a step closer to winning the trophy in the first leg, which was played a week earlier at the Camp Nou. Our team won at the Barça stadium thanks to a goal from Míchel (0-1)
The return leg was at the Santiago Bernabéu, where Alfredo Di Stéfano's side put on a dazzling display for the home fans and won the trophy after a convincing 4-1 scoreline. Butragueño bagged a brace and there were also goals from Hugo Sánchez and Aragón, the latter scoring a sensational goal from the halfway line to seal the rout.
FIRST LEG (Camp Nou, 05/12/1990) 0- Barcelona: Zubizarreta, López Rekarte, Herrera, Nando, Álex, Soler, Amor, Eusebio, Stoichkov, Carreras (Urbano, 59') and Julio Salinas. 1- Real Madrid: Buyo, Chendo, Sanchís, Spasič, Villarroya, Solana, Aragón (Aldana, 78'), Míchel (Hagi, 86'), Hierro, Butragueño and Hugo Sánchez.
Goals 0-1 (min. 55): Míchel.
SECOND LEG (Santiago Bernabéu, 12/12/1990) 4- Real Madrid: Buyo, Chendo, Sanchís, Villarroya, Solana, Aragón, Maqueda, Míchel, Hierro, Butragueño (Aldana, 75') and Hugo Sánchez (Losada, 75'). 1- Barcelona: Zubizarreta, Herrera, Serna, Álex, Soler, Laudrup (López Rekarte, 71'), Amor, Eusebio, Begiristain (Carreras, 46'), Goikoetxea and Julio Salinas.
