The LA Galaxy performances from season to season have been rollercoaster-like, as of late.

In 2023, they won just eight games and missed the playoffs. Last year, not only did they lose just eight times, but they won their sixth MLS Cup Finals.

This season, the Los Angeles Galaxy has turned a performance opposite of last year and even worse than two years ago.

In 2025, the LA Galaxy are 1-5-12 and at the bottom of the MLS Western Conference standings. But how bad has some of these losses been?

3. The defending MLS Cup winners losing 4-2 twice in as many seasons.

Last season, the LA Galaxy went on the road and blew an opportunity to add to their lead in the MLS Western Conference standings. In the long run, they were better off with the second seed.

However, losing 4-2 on the road to the Portland Timbers late in the season could have ruined any momentum going into the playoffs.

This season when that happened, the playoffs would eventually become an afterthought with how many losses the LA Galaxy have racked up. Evander, who scored two of the four goals for the Timbers last September, is now with FC Cincinnati.

Christian Ramirez and Marco Reus scored in the second half to cut into the deficit. Jonathan Rodríguez's penalty kick put the game out of reach, though, at the 76th minute.

2. A 3-0 shutout loss against a relative newbie in the league

On opening day, the LA Galaxy lost 2-0 against San Diego FC. A game later, they appeared to find their footing somewhat. They lost 2-1 on the road against new-MLS Western Conference juggernaut the Vancouver Whitecaps.

With their third game in a row with Novak Micovic in goal for the LA Galaxy, this 3-0 loss hurt. Cedric Teuchert, Marcel Hartel, and Simon Becher all did something the entire Galaxy offense couldn't: find the back of the net.

St. Louis City SC, arguably, has a worse offense than the LA Galaxy. Both teams have yet to score 20 goals this season. Yet, St. Louis has scored three times in the two games against the defending champions.
