Oladapo Afolayan has emerged as one of League One’s brightest stars this season, with the 24-year-old carrying real attacking threat from the left wing.
Afolayan has netted 12 times in the league so far this season, adding a further six assists in his 42 third tier outings.
His evident ability, and continued influence in the final third for the Trotters has gained him Championship admirers, with league leaders first emerging as an interested party last month.
Cardiff City are the latest second-tier outfit to express an interest in Afolayan, as per a report from The Bolton News, with it remaining to be seen what the immediate future holds.
Here, we take a look at three Afolayan replacements that the Trotters should be considering as the summer transfer window nears…
Dion Pereira
Luton Town’s Dion Pereira is someone who could attract a lot of League One interest this summer, with the 23-year-old currently impressing on loan at Bradford City.
The exciting left-footed winger has excellent technical ability, and has earned a lot of admiration from Bantams fans during his short time with the club thus far.

Luton could look to integrate him into the squad next season, however, it may be deemed best if he embarks on a loan spell at the top end of League One, something that Bolton should then look to benefit from.
Mallik Wilks
Perhaps on the more ambitious side of things, Mallik Wilks could be someone that the Trotters target this summer.
Bolton are a side who are showing excellent progress, and with this season acting as one to build on from, eyes will be on earning a top-six spot next season, and a player as talented as Wilks could help with that.
Hull appear to be moving in a different direction under Shota Arveladze, and subsequently, Wilks could become surplus to requirements at the MKM Stadium.
Peterborough United and Birmingham City have already been credited with an interest, but Bolton have an exciting project going on with Evatt in charge and could definitely be a worthy option.
Josh Martin
Starting the campaign with MK Dons, Norwich City loanee was unable to see the necessary game time, therefore, a second League One stint was sanctioned in January, with Doncaster Rovers being trusted with his development.
Showing strong form in a struggling Doncaster side, Martin has proved to be a consistent source of chances and final third productivity.
A further League One move could be the next best step for the exciting 20-year-old, with the ceiling extremely high with Martin.
