The headline matchup of the night played out in none other than Real’s home ground, the Santiago Bernabéu.

The clash in question saw Spain act as hosts, in a high-profile friendly meeting with Brazil.

And Real Madrid’s stars left their fingerprints all over the outcome, Rodrygo being followed onto the scoresheet by incoming Blancos frontman Endrick, who levelled things up after emerging from the bench en route to an eventual 3-3 draw.

Turning attentions towards England’s clash with Belgium, as has proven the case on so many occasions to this point in the campaign, Jude Bellingham proved himself the decisive figure.

With Gareth Southgate’s troops 2-1 down deep into injury-time at Wembley, Bellingham popped up with an equaliser, to ensure that England did not close out the international break with back-to-back defeats.

En route to Germany’s latest impressive victory, on this occasion at the expense of the Netherlands, Toni Kroos again provided the Die Mannschaft faithful with a remainder of what they had so long been missing, laying on Niclas Füllkrug’s winner to make it two assists in two games.

And, last up, fellow midfield veteran Luka Modrić stole the show, in Croatia’s win over Egypt.

On his way to Man of the Match honours, the 38-year-old notched two assists of his own, guiding his nation to a 4-2 triumph, and the winner’s trophy in the ACUD Cup.
