There is always a combination of competition and commitment required to strive at FC Barcelona. After all, the players at the club all belong to an elite level in terms of their quality. Still, the true stars at Barcelona are separated based on their commitment to the cause.
Even today, players who wish to join the club are asked to show their own commitment to doing so. In that sense, transfer targets like Nico Williams are doing whatever they can on their end to make themselves as accessible to Barcelona as possible.
However, the club also has to consider departures in order to facilitate new arrivals and adjust their wage bill accordingly. One name that was recently being linked to such a departure was 29-year-old Danish defender Andreas Christensen, but the player seems to have a different plan in mind.
According to SPORT, the Danish international has no intention of leaving Barcelona this summer. With a contract in place until 2026, he is more than happy with his place at the club and remains committed to at least playing out his current contract even if the club does not offer him a renewal beyond it.

Moreover, he wants to continue fighting for a place at the club no matter the noise that continues to surround his future. Both the player and his family are reportedly settled well in Barcelona, and they do not wish to move anytime soon.
On the other hand, he will have to face some stiff competition next season. With the defensive positions filled with some big names, with the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, and Ronald Araujo set to fight for starting spots next season, Christensen and the likes of Eric Garcia will have to be at their very best to compete on that level as well.
However, Barcelona Director Deco did hint at the potential exit of a centre-back or defender this summer. At the same time, however, one player whose departure he seems to rule out for now is Ronald Araujo, with the Uruguayan defender even doing his best to return to training as soon as possible.
Still, it will be interesting to see how Christensen’s summer develops from here onwards. For now, the Dane seems to have no interest in accepting any offer that comes his way and leads him away from Barcelona.
