Brazil’s quarter-final clash with Croatia is the eighth game of the 2022 World Cup to end 0-0.

And that is now a record for scoreless stalemates within 90 minutes at one edition of the tournament.

The previous benchmark for 0-0 draws at a World Cup was seven, which was shared between five separate competitions in 1982, 2006, 2010, 2014 and then this tournament.

Brazil 0-0 Croatia joins Mexico-Poland, Denmark-Tunisia, Croatia-Morocco, South Korea-Uruguay, England-USA, Croatia-Belgium and Morocco-Spain in ending without a goal.

Notably, Croatia have been involved in three of the eight games.

They did so in the latest fixture without registering a single shot on target in normal time.
