It’s been a while since Coventry City were big spenders – you have to go back to their first season back in the second tier of English football after a long Premier League stint where they spent any significant money.

That was on Lee Hughes in 2001 for £5 million – he’s the third most expensive Coventry signing, sandwiched in-between the more expensive Craig Bellamy and Robbie Keane and the cheaper Mustapha Hadji and David Thompson.
