Huddersfield Town host Hull City in the Championship on Saturday, looking to hit the ground running after the October international break.

Carlos Corberan’s side got a win against Blackburn Rovers and draw with Luton Town the other side of the break, managing to keep pace with the Championship’s top-six.

Heading into this weekend, Town sit seventh.

The international break will have given Corberan the chance to mull over a couple of things, whilst also put what remains of his squad through their paces on the training pitches.

We aim to chip into the Huddersfield head-coach’s mind here, looking at a couple of things he will be weighing up:

In the absence of Levi Colwill in Huddersfield’s last two fixtures, Naby Sarr has stepped back up into the starting XI and helped Town put four points on the board.

There was a lapse in concentration in conceding a penalty against Blackburn, yet Sarr has impressed alongside Tom Lees and Matty Pearson on the whole.

Colwill is now back in training and likely to be pushing hard for a return against Hull. The Chelsea loanee has looked seriously good since signing for the Yorkshire club on loan in the summer and, without doubt, is part of Corberan’s strongest starting line-up.

So, there’s a decision to make at centre-back for Corberan. Does he go with Sarr or Colwill? Or does he throw a curveball and play both, with one of the other two dropping out?

It’s a decent situation for Corberan to be in, even if it might be causing him a slight headache. After all, there were many occasions last season when this type of depth was a pipedream.

Hitting the ground running

Heading into September’s international break, Corberan had overseen a run of three consecutive wins in the Championship, thrusting Huddersfield into early play-off contention.

However, after that international break, Huddersfield struggled and lost three of their next four fixtures before getting it together again against Blackburn.

The worry will be that having found some momentum with a win over Blackburn and draw with Luton, Huddersfield will lose all that again on the other side of this international break.

Hull’s visit is such a presentable opportunity for that not to happen. Grant McCann’s side were tipped to be one of the Championship’s struggling sides this season and they’ve lived up to that expectation. They struggle to score goals and are already lingering outside the relegation zone.

Corberan will be looking to hit the ground running and prove that September’s start was just a one off.
