As reported by Record, despite Mexico’s poor performance at the World Cup in Qatar so far, El Tri fans have travelled to the Middle East in greater numbers that nearly every other nation taking part in the tournament.
The Mexican government have calculated that at least 100,000 fans from the Central American country will visit Qatar during the tournament while 70,000 have already touched down in the host nation with 20,000 alone arriving for the crucial Group C game with Argentina, a 2-0 defeat on Saturday.
Meanwhile, many Mexican shirts and flags have been seen at other games across the World Cup as large groups of Mexicans take in matches other than those featuring their team. Although 30,000 more Mexicans are expected to fly to Qatar for the pivotal final group game with Saudi Arabia, some are experiencing ticket issues, preventing them from entering the country, say the outlet.
